Temporary Blog Header

Today I have replaced my existing blog header. The replacement is made to aptly suit to the fastive mood of Hari Raya. It is only temporary till the end of the month of Shawal. The default header image: temporarily replaced with this theme:

SELAMAT HARI RAYA

Ketupat, Rendang, Pelita (kerosene bamboo lamp) are among other things which are synonymous with Hari Raya festival and 'Selamat Hari Raya' greeting cards are no exception. So far the most frequently used symbol is that of the ketupat (rice cakes wrapped in coconut leaves); it is often used on Hari Raya greeting cards, hanging decorative items, and as a promotional image for the season. The Selamat Hari Raya greeting (shown above) is decorated with 'Lemang' (rice baked in bamboo) and Pelita. Lemang is among the most famous malay cuisine that is served during Hari Raya which is cooked in a hallowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaf to prevent the rice sticking to the bamboo. Lemang is often served with ketupat (rice cooked in packets made from fresh coconut leaves) and rendang (beef cooked in coconut milk and spices). Ops! did I forget mention about the 'Pelita'. All right, several days before Hari Raya it is a long-standing tradition for malay houses to be lighted with Pelita (traditional kerosene bamboo lamps), particularly on the 27th night of Ramadhan. It is said that shower blessings on that particular night and and also it is believed that the purpose of lighting the oil lamps is to attract the angles and spirits to descend to people's home during the night of Lailatul Qadar. They come down in great numbers with the blessings and mercy of Allah. They visit the believers worshipping Allah whether they are reciting Quran, making dhikr (remembrance) or performing prayer. Today, the oil lamps are lite solely for decorative purpose so that your house, mosques as well as government and commercial buildings look pretty and attractive. Moreover, electricity provide us with modern light and colorful neon replacing those traditional kerosene bamboo lamps.

JPEG Option Explained

Do you notice that when you are saving your graphics file as JPEG format, a dialog box comes up asking if you want to save the file in Baseline, Baseline Optimized or Progressive. So which of these is best? First let me explain what is JPEG. JPEG is the file extension, short for 'Join Photographics Experts Group', this is the committee that created the JPEG standard. JPEG is best for dealing with photo when to a certain degree quality is a priority for a significant reduction in size. What does each of these options mean? Baseline (Standard) - This JPEG format is recognized by all Web browsers. Baseline Optimized - This JPEG format option provides optimized color and slightly better compression. It is supported by all modern browsers, but was not supported in the very earliest of Web browsers. It's your best choice for JPEG files today. Progressive - Creates a JPEG file that displays gradually as it downloads, starting out blocky, and gradually getting clearer as it downloads. It doesn't make the image download any faster, but it can give the illusion of speed since the blocky image is loaded right away on a slow connection. By default Baseline (Standard) is selected when you are saving a file to JPEG format

Green Packet

Green Packet in the context of Hari Raya festival means 'Hari Raya Money'. So 'Hari Raya Money' means money that usually given during Hari Raya festive. It is a norm for muslims in Brunei and Malaysia to give sadaqah (giving in charity) in the Eidul Fitri and it is given to children only. The money is normally filled in green paper envelope.

All right, Aidil fitri is just a few days ahead, muslim all over the world will celebrate their thanksgiving after a month of fasting in Ramadhan. It is a long standing tradition to always wish your friends, lovers and family by sending them 'Selamat Hari Raya' (afterward abbriviated as 'SHR') greeting. So today's post is all about a recipe for creating your own 'Selamat Hari Raya', whether or not you consider yourself as an artist, you must believe that you are a creative being by nature, believe me. So want to make your home made 'SHR'? I can hear yous say 'Yes!'. Well feel free to download the three essential graphic elements that will make up your SHR card (shown above) namely; Islamic frame (No.1), SHR wording (No.2) and Islamic geometrical design (No. 3). A brief note on what these three graphics do. Islamic Frame (No.1), as the name implies, is a frame for molding the SHR wording. SHR wording (No.2) is your card wording and Islamic geometrical design (No.3) takes a role of your SHR's background. Let go and explore your creativity. Hey wait!, a gentle sweet reminder for you, this is not a Photoshop tutorials about creating your 'SHR', hence I don't provide any instructions that let your directly create your Aidil Fitri greeting card. Sampul Surat Sumbangan Ikhas

Biasanya apabila kita menghadiri majlis perkahwinan kita akan menghulur sedekah wang ringgit yang diisi ke dalam sampul surat sebagai sumbangan ikhlas kita kepada keluarga pengantin. Di sini saya ingin berkongsi dengan biskita dua kalimah iaitu 'Selamat Pengantin Baru' dan kalimah 'Dengan Ingatan Tulus Ikhlas' yang saya reka dengan menggunakan khat (tulisan)'Thuluths'. Biskita cuma perlu mencetak perkataan tersebut disampul surat dengan printer 'desktop' dirumah atau biskita boleh mencetak perkataan berkenaan di atas sekeping kertas A4 dan membawanya ke percetakan komersial untuk dicetak. Perhatian: Sebelum biskita memuat turun kalimah berkenaan, PC biskita perlulah terlebih dahulu diinstal dengan program' Winrar' kerana kedua perkataan tersebut telah saya dimampatkan (compress) dengan menggunakan program 'Winrar'. Sewing Effect

This morning my friend emailed me a Photoshop tutorial link featuring easy steps for creating digital sewing effect with Adobe Photoshop. So upon arriving home after Tarawih prayer, without wasting another second I pasted my vector artwork from Adobe Illustrator to Photoshop (the word 'Allah') . To make a long story short, I start sewing the word in Photoshp and as you can see from the above image ( to see more detail in the image just double click it). Overall I just find the tutorial really cool.
