Our Kids Our Future

Raising children is the most important job in any community, kids are our future generation and parents effect their youngsters progress. Children are born in a state of purity and then their parents teach them to be believers and unbelievers. The most effective way to teach anything to anybody is to be a role model. This is the reason Allah send prophets to all peoples. Every time we deal with our children, in fact, we are educating them, whether we decide to or not. There is a famous poem that portray this clearly, If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight If a child lives with redicule, he learns to be shy For that reason we must appraise carefully how we cope with our children so as to have a sought-after end result. Let continue the poem: If a child lives with tolerence, he learn to be patience If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith. The above poems signifies unfavourable remarks and behaviours lead to unfavourable characteristics in our youngster and favourable remarks and behaviour culminate in approving results

Naskh Style

'Bismillah' in Naskh style. In the 10th century a famous calligrapher Ibn Muqlah redesigned naskh script. It is a kind of Arabic lettering most common in print. Raster or Bitmap format?

Hundred of posts across the Internet are being passed back and fort debating the merits of Bimap over vector graphics. The bottom line is this. One of the most misunderstanding among casual designers is the different between bitmap (also known as raster graphics) and vector graphics. Here, I am telling you I am not going to explain what they are but I would rather link you to websites that explain the primary differences between these two graphics types and explain the area where usage of each most appropriate. Khat Hari Guru

Wedding Envelopes

'Money Envelope' are mainly presented at social and family gathering such as wedding, birthday etc, the envelopes shown above are variation among wedding envelope given out at Malay wedding ceremony. I have designed various custom-made wedding envelopes with the motif of mosque and floral dominated the decoration. A wedding greeting quote that say "SELAMAT PENGANTIN BARU' is a favourite statement normally printed on the envelope. It is used for saluting people who have just married. The above are among designs that I created for my personal use.

What to learn with photoshop?

This is not a tutorial on how you go about creating your personal postage stamp, but I can assure you that there are a plethora of photoshop tutorials on the Internet including tutorials for creating postage stamp. One such web site, for example is depiction.net. What are the kernel skill that you need to learn in order to have a good grasp of Adobe Photoshop? There are three essential photoshop knowledge need to be studied if you want to prove you are a Photoshop maven. Firstly, you know how make basic selection, secondly you understand how to use layers in Photoshop (this is absolutely essential ) then thirdly, have a grasp of how layer masks works. Where to learn all these skills? Practice, practice and practice seriously that is the best way because experimentation and play is the key to learning something beyond the basic . A couple of things you can do is use tutorial, there is a wealth of great Photoshop tutorials on the Web, join Adobe photoshop forum, read Photoshop magazines like Photoshop User Magazine from NAPP and read Photoshop books. There are some photoshop books that are really top drawer. Among them, I highly recommend Photoshop Wow book though it was written for Photoshop CS and CS2 but it can still big investment to photoshop users

Contoh Bendera Khatam

This is a kind of a small flag for the purpose of decorating the 'bunga telur' ( fully boiled chicken egge wrapped decoratively). Bunga telur is a gift to guests who come to the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony (a ceremony signifying your completion of reading the Holy Quran) or gift for guests in a Malay wedding ceremony. Notice untuk pengunjung yang berminat sahaja iatah pasalnya ku berkurapak bahasa Brunei ani. Kalau abiskita minat menggunakan tulisan 'Majlis Khatam Al-Quran' berbentuk tulisan Thulus seperti yang arah bendera khatam diatas ah...bulih eh..download saja. Fail untuk tulisan atu ku sediakan menggunakan format 'ai' Apa 'ai' atu kan? hehehe okey, 'ai' atu ialah fail grafik yang dibuat menggunakan program Adobe Illustrator. Jadinya, format 'ai' harus dibuka dengan program Illustrator lah tu sahabat, meaning kita terpaksa tah tedapat program Illustrator. Kenapa inda dalam Microsoft Word? Bukan kan menyusahkan biskita. Yang banarnya..kalau formatnya ku sediakan dalam Adobe Illustrator, sanang jua abiskita mengedit, mewarna, membasarkan saiz imej, walau tia sebasar papan hitam, (jangan marah puasa masih ni,) masih berkualiti tinggi tu ..iatah kan kelebihannya 'ai' ah. Brunei To Celebrate Hari Raya On Monday

At the time of writing, I read online Yahoo News that muslims in Malaysia will celebrate Hari Raya Aidil Fitri tomorrow, Sept 20, while Brunei Darussalam begins the celebration marking the end of Ramadhan on Monday Sept 21. Syarie Judges and officials of Syariah Court, officials from the State Judiciary Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Survey Department, Ministry of Development made attempts to sight the new crescent moon but in vain. In 1960s, in my childhood day I can remember that every house would have the kek 'Kepala Meja' and these cakes had a very thick icing with the word 'Selamat Hari Raya' decorated on it. Oddly these cakes were not consumed but function solely as decoration on the table throughout the Hari Raya celebration. Another fascinating practice taken on by some folks was covering the foodstuffs on the table. Four bottles would be placed on the table forming a square and a piece of linen wold be placed on top of the bottles that will cover the food on the table. But regardless of the contrasting between life in the past and today, The most important thing is 'What we have gained from fasting in the month ofRamadhan?" We leave the bless month of Ramadhan, the month of the Quran, taqwa, mercy, patience and forgetfulness. Have we graduated from the school of Ramadhaan with more appreciation of god-fearing? If we are from those who made the most from Ramadhan? then praise and thank Allah and ask him for steadfastness upon it until we meet our death. From sign that one's deeds are accepted is that he or she has improved in his or her obedience to Allah. Allah Subhanahu Wata 'alaa said "And remember when your God proclaimed 'If you are grateful I will increase you (In favor). Meaning, increase us with good, faith and righteous actions.

KING OF MARBLES GAME 2009

This is non-existent trophy, it is only my imaginary prize that is given to the winner of a game of marbles. I created the imitation medal yesterday when bit by bit from the deepest part of my memory I remembered things I did when I was a kiddie. As a kid I used to play a lot of games with my friends. Let me remind you that I was the children of sixties thus among old-time children games existed that keep me busy and moving were guli ( game of marbles), Tarik Upih and Kite Flying. These are male game of course. Now, going back to the subject of playing marble. Game of marble is a youngster's game for two or more. Your main tool is a set of marbles, a small round ball usually transparent and colorful. One set of the marble is place at the center which is in the form of square or circle, normally a stick is used to draw the square or circle on the dirt. The number of marble you put at the center may differ from 2 to even more, relying on the agreement of the team. Each player has his/her own shooter marble to hit the set. The first player starts the game by shooting at the set and keep on shooting until he/she goes wide of hitting any of the marbles from the set. Then in rotation each player takes turn to hit it. Gather any marbles that you have knocked out from the ring. Continue shooting until the set in the circle or square is vacant. Count your marbles at the end of the game. You are the winner if you have the most marbles. :)

Puzzle Effect In Photoshop

This is not a tutorial on creating a puzzle effect in Photoshop. My intent just to show you the Photoshop puzzle effect I created with photoshop. Here is the image I used for the puzzle, the Arabic phrase 'Ar Rahman Ar Rahim' which translates 'The Beneficient and The Mercifull' respectively. The pattern for the puzzle was created in Adobe Illustrator as shown in the diagram below. For your information I didn't use the Puzzle.psd file that comes with the original program. When the drawing process was all over and done in Adobe Illstrator, to make a long story short, I proceeded with Adobe Photoshop to continue the puzzle creation.

My Vector Art

Today vector art is really popular. Creating vector art is not hard to do, if you have Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw you can start creating your vector art and you don't need to be able to draw or to be a professional artist to create your own vector art. I often use Adobe Illustrator to make the initial file and then create a raster version for an optimized web ready file. Another cool thing about vector graphic is that their file size is usually smaller, the bitmap files, by contrast, have to store information by each fixel. Vector graphics only have to store information about the point. As people begin working with computer graphics one of the subject of greatest confussion is the different between bitmap graphics and vector graphics. But this is not a big deal for you to understand the difference between the two graphics format because there is a lot of information on the Internet defining both, then explain them as they relates to each other. SELAMAT HARI RAYA

Ketupat, Rendang, Pelita (kerosene bamboo lamp) are among other things which are synonymous with Hari Raya festival and 'Selamat Hari Raya' greeting cards are no exception. So far the most frequently used symbol is that of the ketupat (rice cakes wrapped in coconut leaves); it is often used on Hari Raya greeting cards, hanging decorative items, and as a promotional image for the season. The Selamat Hari Raya greeting (shown above) is decorated with 'Lemang' (rice baked in bamboo) and Pelita. Lemang is among the most famous malay cuisine that is served during Hari Raya which is cooked in a hallowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaf to prevent the rice sticking to the bamboo. Lemang is often served with ketupat (rice cooked in packets made from fresh coconut leaves) and rendang (beef cooked in coconut milk and spices). Ops! did I forget mention about the 'Pelita'. All right, several days before Hari Raya it is a long-standing tradition for malay houses to be lighted with Pelita (traditional kerosene bamboo lamps), particularly on the 27th night of Ramadhan. It is said that shower blessings on that particular night and and also it is believed that the purpose of lighting the oil lamps is to attract the angles and spirits to descend to people's home during the night of Lailatul Qadar. They come down in great numbers with the blessings and mercy of Allah. They visit the believers worshipping Allah whether they are reciting Quran, making dhikr (remembrance) or performing prayer. Today, the oil lamps are lite solely for decorative purpose so that your house, mosques as well as government and commercial buildings look pretty and attractive. Moreover, electricity provide us with modern light and colorful neon replacing those traditional kerosene bamboo lamps.

JPEG Option Explained

Do you notice that when you are saving your graphics file as JPEG format, a dialog box comes up asking if you want to save the file in Baseline, Baseline Optimized or Progressive. So which of these is best? First let me explain what is JPEG. JPEG is the file extension, short for 'Join Photographics Experts Group', this is the committee that created the JPEG standard. JPEG is best for dealing with photo when to a certain degree quality is a priority for a significant reduction in size. What does each of these options mean? Baseline (Standard) - This JPEG format is recognized by all Web browsers. Baseline Optimized - This JPEG format option provides optimized color and slightly better compression. It is supported by all modern browsers, but was not supported in the very earliest of Web browsers. It's your best choice for JPEG files today. Progressive - Creates a JPEG file that displays gradually as it downloads, starting out blocky, and gradually getting clearer as it downloads. It doesn't make the image download any faster, but it can give the illusion of speed since the blocky image is loaded right away on a slow connection. By default Baseline (Standard) is selected when you are saving a file to JPEG format

Green Packet

Green Packet in the context of Hari Raya festival means 'Hari Raya Money'. So 'Hari Raya Money' means money that usually given during Hari Raya festive. It is a norm for muslims in Brunei and Malaysia to give sadaqah (giving in charity) in the Eidul Fitri and it is given to children only. The money is normally filled in green paper envelope.

It is a long standing tradition to always wish your friends, lovers and family by sending them 'Selamat Hari Raya' (afterward abbriviated as 'SHR') greeting. So today's post is all about a recipe for creating your own 'Selamat Hari Raya', whether or not you consider yourself as an artist, you must believe that you are a creative being by nature, believe me. So want to make your home made 'SHR'? I can hear yous say 'Yes!'. Well feel free to download the three essential graphic elements that will make up your SHR card (shown above) namely; Islamic frame (No.1), SHR wording (No.2) and Islamic geometrical design (No. 3). A brief note on what these three graphics do. Islamic Frame (No.1), as the name implies, is a frame for molding the SHR wording. SHR wording (No.2) is your card wording and Islamic geometrical design (No.3) takes a role of your SHR's background. Let go and explore your creativity. Sampul Surat Sumbangan Ikhas

Biasanya apabila kita menghadiri majlis perkahwinan kita akan menghulur sedekah wang ringgit yang diisi ke dalam sampul surat sebagai sumbangan ikhlas kita kepada keluarga pengantin. Di sini saya ingin berkongsi dengan biskita dua kalimah iaitu 'Selamat Pengantin Baru' dan kalimah 'Dengan Ingatan Tulus Ikhlas' yang saya reka dengan menggunakan khat (tulisan)'Thuluths'. Biskita cuma perlu mencetak perkataan tersebut disampul surat dengan printer 'desktop' dirumah atau biskita boleh mencetak perkataan berkenaan di atas sekeping kertas A4 dan membawanya ke percetakan komersial untuk dicetak. Perhatian: Sebelum biskita memuat turun kalimah berkenaan, PC biskita perlulah terlebih dahulu diinstal dengan program' Winrar' kerana kedua perkataan tersebut telah saya dimampatkan (compress) dengan menggunakan program 'Winrar'. Sewing Effect

This morning my friend emailed me a Photoshop tutorial link featuring easy steps for creating digital sewing effect with Adobe Photoshop. So upon arriving home after Tarawih prayer, without wasting another second I pasted my vector artwork from Adobe Illustrator to Photoshop (the word 'Allah') . To make a long story short, I start sewing the word in Photoshp and as you can see from the above image ( to see more detail in the image just double click it). Overall I just find the tutorial really cool.

SeniNet jargon explained

I forgot to mention in my initial post what 'SeniNet' all about? 'SeniNet' is a malay words, loosely translated 'net art'. In this context art refers to computer-based arts which use the web as it primary medium (gallery) and if you are an artist working in this manner then you are web or internet artist. That's all there is to it. :)

We played in the wind

We played in the wind and use no net, you can't see the shuttlecock because we sent it high into the air. We were having fun.
